The Witch Hunt is a new horror game from the creators of Darkwood. In this trailer, we get a glimpse into the world of the game and see how players will be able to interact with each other in an unsettling way.
The strange magic movie is a horror film that will be released on October 19th, 2018. It is about a group of friends who are trying to escape the town they grew up in after it becomes overrun with witches.
The official trailer for Momentum Pictures’ forthcoming movie Witch Hunt has been revealed. Though the title seems to suggest or hint to the film’s potential narrative, the truth is far from what we would expect. It does include supernaturally gifted witches and social organizations, as well as law enforcement officers tracking down and killing them, but it takes place in a world that we are all acquainted with. What would happen if witches existed today and were hunted down by our contemporary judicial system? Witch Hunt attempts to go into this realm.
The video depicts a family attempting to conceal two young witches inside their home’s walls. Through a complex network, they are attempting to assist them in crossing into Mexico and obtaining asylum. Their intentions are foiled, however, by the Bureau of Witchcraft Investigation’s unexpected vigilance over them. The Bureau of Witchcraft Investigation is a government institution that works on behalf of the US administration and is in charge of tracking out, arresting, and executing witches.
The trailer shows BWI agents attempting to discover clues and proof of witchcraft using contemporary methods (such as submerging suspects in water to expose the ‘Devil’s Mark’ on them). Not only do these images harken back to early portrayals of witch hunts in ancient stories and literature on the topic. In its trailers, the film suggests themes of women’s rights suppression, prejudice, and social discrimination, in which women are robbed of their rights and compelled to manage their talents without experience or chance to utilize them.
There are organizations who denounce the existence of witches, there are public revelations, there are supporters, and there is a rising conflict between them. It’s more of a film that dives into topics on societal prejudices and a rising movement around democracy, human rights, portraying reality via folklore.
Witch Hunt, directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Elle Callahan, attempts to bring a very contentious and prejudiced period of the 1600s into contemporary American culture, which therefore falls on conventional and biased ideas and ideals. This not only reimagines the present, but also alters a whole civilization’s belief system, resulting in social and legal ramifications. The narrative of the film, as seen in the trailer, is based on horror cinematography techniques, but it also touches on a number of societal issues that will be addressed and evident in the film.
Gideon Adlon (Blockers, The Mustang), Abigail Cowen (Stranger Things), and Christian Camargo (Lost, Gia) appear in the film (The Hurt Locker). On October 1, 2024, the film will have a limited theatrical release and will be accessible on demand the same day.
Witch Hunt is an interesting and intriguing genre experiment that draws influence from previously published works on the subject. The film’s director, Elle Callahan, previously made Head Count (2018), which received positive reviews and praise.
